About Proglenth

A Japanese trade publication on how medicines are made

Proglenth is an independent Japanese trade publication on pharmaceutical and biologics manufacturing. It follows how a medicine is made, from antibodies, cell and gene therapies and nucleic acids to small-molecule APIs, and links each step to the analytical methods and the equipment it depends on.

A Japanese publication, now also in English

The main edition of Proglenth (プログレンス) is written in Japanese for people who make medicines. Manufacturing a biologic or an API runs through many connected steps: cell culture or synthesis, purification, formulation and analysis. Information about those steps tends to be split up by process, by instrument and by analytical method.

Proglenth puts them back together. Process flow maps show the whole route, and for each step we explain its purpose, what to watch, the analytical methods that apply and the equipment and reagents commonly used. Organizing process, analysis and equipment side by side is the core of the publication.

The English edition is for readers outside Japan who make or sell products for the Japanese market: QA, regulatory, site and business development teams at manufacturers, CDMOs and suppliers.

What the English edition offers

Five sections are written in English for readers who work with Japan.

Much of Proglenth still exists only in Japanese. When an English page has a Japanese counterpart, the 日本語 link at the top of the page takes you straight to it.

How we write and check what we publish

Our writers have hands-on experience in the scientific instruments and life science industry. They check what they write against public guidelines from ICH, USP, FDA, WHO and other bodies, against peer-reviewed papers and against manufacturers' published technical information. We rely on sources you can verify, not on personal impressions.

We name our sources wherever we can: the guideline, the paper or the official announcement. Important numbers, names and standards carry a source where possible. If we cannot confirm a specific fact, we leave it out.

Product news starts from the manufacturer's official announcement, such as a press release. We write our own headline and commentary and link to the original.

Articles are published under the name of the Proglenth editors after checking several public sources. Each article reflects the information available when it was published. Regulations and technology change, so when something important changes, we add to the article or revise it.

Our main reference points are the ICH guidelines; FDA guidance for industry and federal regulations such as 21 CFR Part 11; EMA guidance and EudraLex Volume 4 GMP, including Annex 1 on sterile manufacturing; the general methods and monographs of the USP, the Japanese Pharmacopoeia and the European Pharmacopoeia; WHO and PIC/S GMP guidelines; technical documents from industry bodies such as PDA and BioPhorum; and peer-reviewed literature and manufacturers' technical documents. Citing them is not a claim of certification or compliance.

What we publish is general explanation. It is not regulatory or medical advice, and it does not recommend any specific product. We do not report our own test data, and actual manufacturing methods, control strategies and quality standards differ by product, company and region. Before you act on anything you read here, check the primary source.

Company information and advertising

Manufacturers, CROs and technical service companies sometimes provide official information for us to publish. We keep it clearly separate from the articles, news and process information that Proglenth edits independently, and an official company page says that its content was provided or checked by the company.

Whether a company provides information or not does not change what our editorial articles say, how they assess it or where it appears in a list. If we publish advertising, PR or sponsored content, we label it as such. Links from our product pages to manufacturers are not affiliate links.

Who runs Proglenth

Proglenth is run by the Proglenth editors. They have worked in the scientific instruments and reagents industry, proposing products to pharmaceutical companies and research institutions and researching technical information for them. Their focus is bioprocessing, analysis, cell and gene therapy and research equipment, and they check each piece against manufacturers' documents, regulatory texts and the literature before it is published.

We do not put individual names forward. That is a policy, not anonymity: we publish under the Proglenth editors' name because each piece is backed by both practical experience and sources you can check. For business inquiries about coverage, contributed articles, listings or advertising, we disclose details of the operating entity individually where needed.

Corrections and contact

If we find an error after publication, we correct the article promptly. If you spot one, please tell us through the contact form. The same form takes questions about our content and inquiries about coverage, contributed articles and listings.
