Chain of identity (COI)
チェーン・オブ・アイデンティティchēn obu aidentitī
The documented, unbroken link between a patient and that patient's cells or product at every step, from collection through manufacturing, shipping and administration, maintained with unique identifiers on labels and records. It prevents mix-ups in autologous and other patient-specific therapies. It is tracked alongside the chain of custody, which records who held the material and when. Japanese documents use the katakana loanword.
