Mycoplasma test

マイコプラズマ試験maikopurazuma shiken

A test for contamination with mycoplasma, small bacteria without a cell wall that do not cloud cell cultures and so go unnoticed by eye while affecting the cells. It is required for master and working cell banks, unprocessed bulk harvests of biologics and cell-based products, using culture methods or validated nucleic acid amplification tests, which give results much faster. In Japanese specifications for cell-based products it appears with the sterility and endotoxin tests as the basic microbiological safety set.
