Real-time release testing (RTRT)

Evaluating and assuring the quality of in-process and final product from process data, typically measured material attributes and process controls, instead of testing the finished product (ICH Q8). It needs validated process analytical technology and a control strategy approved for it, and the specification states where RTRT replaces an end-product test. Japanese documents link it with continuous manufacturing and process analytical technology. A release decision is still required: RTRT changes what the decision rests on, not who makes it.
