Nonionic surfactants such as polysorbates and poloxamers protect proteins from interfacial stress and aggregation. In formulation design they shield a product from air-liquid and solid-liquid interfaces during agitation and transport. For oxidation-sensitive drug substances, buyers look at how far peroxides, aldehydes and other impurities have been reduced in a purified grade.
